The easiest way to travel to the Cinque Terre is by train, since in the Cinque Terre the aren't many parking places and finding a free parking spot can be quite a trouble, above all during the high season. Furthermore the streets to the Cinque Terre are quite narrow and have many bends.

If you like to visit the Cinque Terre during the summertime, in the high season, we suggest you to use trains or boats and leave your car at home or maybe park it in Levanto and then get a train or a boat to the Cinque Terre from there. If you like to reach the Cinque Terre during the low season, you shouldn't have any problem in finding a parking place in Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, Monterosso.

From March to the first days in November, in the territory of the Cinque Terre you can find a boat service that connects the five villages: actually it connects Portovenere with Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, Monterosso and Levanto. No boat service in Corniglia. You can buy your boat ticket directly on the boat. If you stay in the Cinque Terre longer than one day and like to use the boat, we suggest you to buy a special ticket, called Cinque Terre Card for the Boat that you can find in the offices at the railway station in Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monaterosso.

5 Terre Highway
At the tollhouse "La Spezia - S. Stefano Magra " take the main road number 370 "Litoranea delle Cinque Terre" and, when you are in town, proceed along the seafront with direction Cinque Terre-Portovenere.

After the La Spezia Arsenal the street arrives at a fork: proceed straight uphill towards Manarola and Riomaggiore, so direction Cinque Terre. You will meet one after the other Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso.

How to reach the Cinque Terre By train:

The Cinque Terre territory is characterized by high hills overlooking the sea, for that reason streets are narrow, steep and with lots of curves. There are limited places to park cars, and the centre of the towns is closed to private traffic.

For all these reasons, the train is the ideal means of transport to reach the Cinque Terre.

How to reach the Cinque Terre by plane

The nearest airports:


Pisa Airport (distance km 85)
From the Pisa Airport you can easily reach the Cinque Terre (5 Terre) by train: it's only necessary to catch the shuttle service that leaves from the airport for the Pisa Railway Station.

For those who prefer to rent a car, the nearest tollhouse to the Airport is the Pisa Centro one, on the motorway Livorno-Sestri Levante-Genoa, which is easily reachable following the green indications for the motorway.

Genoa Airport (distance km 110)
From the Genoa Airport you can get to Cinque Terre (5 Terre) by train, on the line Genoa-La Spezia. The Airport is connected to the railway station with a shuttle service (which is not so frequent). The taxi service is more frequent.

If you rent a car, you can easily reach the entrance to the motorway in only 2 minutes, and there the Motorway A10 and A12 to Cinque Terre (the trip takes 1h and 30').

The tourists who want to join us at Hotel Clelia Logis International in Deiva Marina, between Portofino and Cinque Terre, can easily reach it by train and by car. Deiva Marina has a tollhouse and a railway station, and our Hotel can offer you free parking. Hotel Clelia can also come to pick you up in Airport, with the shuttle service minibus.
